      About this project

Completed in October 2016, this new centrally-located teaching building features a variety of modern teaching spaces including a 350 seat lecture theatre, 26 seminar rooms along with study and informal meeting areas.

The building is located on a premium site at the edge of Spring Wood, between Derwent College and the Berrick Saul building and provides a new 'gateway' to the campus from University Road.

Spurlite worked in conjunction with Briggs and Forrester to develop a conceptual design into a fully work lighting installation.

The theme of the site was continually illuminated suspended and recessed extruded aluminium luminaires. The Spurlite Greenstar range provided the perfect solution of continuously illuminated extrusion with zero shadow gaps both in surface and recessed versions.

Where these types of products were used, care was taken to ensure that product labels matched a luminaire run schedule so that installers on site could identify how all the sections co-ordinated.

The Lecture theatre, break-out spaces and circulation areas all utilised the Greenstar range, whilst the individual seminar rooms used the Lambda LED D/I suspended luminaire.

Florenzo Halo LED fittings were installed on staircases with DOT LED downlights to toilets and lobbies. The Futurix LED IP65 luminaire completed the installation within plant areas and store rooms.
