This project started life back in 2013 as a conceptual document created by an M & E Consultant. Spurlite were tasked with developing this concept document into a working lighting design, but trying to remain as true to the concept as possible.

In the beginning, Spurlite worked with EMCOR’s estimating and design team to produce a budget figure to allow EMCOR to submit their bid for the project. EMCOR were successfully awarded the project and we commenced more detailed design in conjunction with Hoare Lea and Partners, EMCOR’s chosen electrical designer.

Prior to Emcor commencing on site, they made the decision to withdraw from the project installation market and the project was transferred to Briggs and Forester to manage on site. Since most of the estimating and design team at EMCOR transferred across to Briggs and Forester, Spurlite were then engaged by Briggs and Forester to continue design and supply of luminaires for the Shopping Mall, Marketing Suite and Hotel. The Hotel element was closely controlled by an interior design consultant who had very specific ideas, A mock-up of a typical bedroom suite and section of corridor was built on site to test the design. This proved successful to develop a theme, over time several different arrangements of lighting layout were examined through the use of relux models to arrive at a final solution.

During construction several changes needed to be accommodated due to reduced ceiling void depths and other constructional challenges, these were easily accommodated through Spurlite's extensive range of LED downlights and accessories to produce a visually consistent approach across the site. Spurlite remained flexible and aimed to accommodate all changes with the minimal of over costs to the client.

Product supplied were sourced from the Spurlite DOT and Crystal downlighter range utilising several different wattages, colour temperatures and sizes of luminaire. The ZIPAR duo features heavily in the shopping Mall and dimmable LED tape systems were introduced into coffers within the hotel corridors and suites. The roof top car park is illuminated with the Kyro luminaire and the management suite accommodates recessed modular luminaire from the Indirect range, and surface mounted Lambda Luminaires.
