This project highlights the flexibility of Spurlite when approach challenging deadlines. Spurlite were approached by one of our partnering electrical contractors Briggs and Forrester for assistance in developing a design for a very large multi-purpose office complex project that they had been engaged on. The design included office areas, breakout spaces, a cafeteria and a gym, amongst others, and was required within one week of receiving the information to allow them to confirm cost certainty on the negotiated project.

The design was actually turned around within 2 days, giving the project team a little time to then tweak some of the finer points. Within 3 weeks of the design being submitted an order was placed for approximately 3000 luminaires, many of which were a bespoke design. The first delivery of luminaires was made 3 weeks after order, this consisted mainly of lighting to the office areas which took the form of a 3.5m continuous extruded aluminium body, housing 2 x 1500 lit sections, with Indirect lighting element and a central dummy section housing a PIR.

Within 3 months the whole quantity of luminaires had either been delivered or in our warehouse awaiting call off. A £450,000 project designed and delivered within 4 months.

During the course of the construction phase of this complex refurbishment project, Spurlite provided full project management assistance, with “on the hoof” redesign support as and when challenges arrived due to unforeseen site issues. Several lighting control commissioning visits were also undertaken as the building was taken by the client in stages, so again a flexible approach was required to align with the elastic nature of the program.

Luminaires utilised across the project saw the use of bespoke Subspace LED luminaires and Prettus downlights within the office spaces, wall mounted Florenzo LED fittings to staircases, DOT downlights to circulation spaces and toilets, Futurix LED to plant and store rooms, Surface Tubus LED downlights to restaurant and gym area and the Airn Circular suspended luminaire within reception as decorative feature lighting.
