      About this project

Spurlite has been heavily involved in providing lighting solutions for Cooperative retail stores throughout the Midlands and South of England.

These solutions have addressed needs that include energy saving alternatives to existing lighting systems and also requirements for enhanced performance and reduced maintenance costs.

      Lakeside - Portsmouth

This was a new store in a very prominent location outside the IBM building in Portsmouth, therefore the lighting design brief required more than just efficiency and performance, the design also had to be elegant and eye catching.

There were no ceilings going in as they wanted that industrial chic feel to the store. So with this criteria, Pierlite, along with TDS Electrical, were given the task to create a scheme that would meet these requirements.

The solution which was proposed and subsequently installed was the suspended line led, to give seamless lines of light which would not only give them the light levels that they needed but gave them an LED efficient solution that was in keeping with their vision for this particular store.

      Walsall - Birmingham

The Sutton Road and Fulbrook stores are two of several projects recently completed in the area. In line with the Mid Counties Cooperative Society’s aim to reduce waste, both sites utilise LED lighting to reduce the carbon foot print of the stores.

In particular, the Fullbrook store could only achieve its Breeam targets by utilising LED lighting. The Co-op stores are one of many projects completed with B W Electrical who appreciate our help with lighting design and project management at all stages through a project. As with most retail installations the deadlines are very tight and Pierlite try and make themselves as flexible as possible to help the electrical contractor finish the project on time.

The Sutton Road store was a basic interior fit out whilst Fullbrook was a full new build, the client took the decision to make the store completely LED, so shop floor, back of house, exterior and even the emergency lighting uses LED technology. This has created a very energy efficient installation and an almost maintenance free site from a lighting perspective.
